Case: Company Registration in Cyprus for a Mobile Game Developer. Expanding to the International Market via the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon
An independent mobile game developer approached KRYNO. The client was selling digital products through international platforms and planned to scale the business. Further growth required an international corporate structure, the ability to work with global marketplaces, and a corporate account for receiving payments.
The main user markets were Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Asia. At the time of the engagement, the client operated as an individual, but further business growth required a transition to a corporate model.
KRYNO had several practical objectives:
-
- set up an international company to work with the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon;
- open a corporate account to receive payouts from platforms and advertising networks;
- establish a clear tax model for an international digital business;
- select a jurisdiction suitable for scaling an IT project and working with digital products.
What the project support included
Jurisdiction analysis and selection of Cyprus
At the first stage, we analysed several popular jurisdictions for IT and GameDev businesses.
Our analysis considered:
-
- the tax burden;
- the country’s international reputation;
- how banks and payment systems view IT companies;
- the ability to work with digital products;
- the cost of ongoing company administration;
- the prospects for business scaling.
Based on the analysis, Cyprus was selected. For the client, this jurisdiction was the optimal solution due to EU membership, clear corporate procedures, and the ability to use the company as an operating hub for international activities.
Company registration and corporate structure setup
Once the structure was agreed, we supported the registration of the Cyprus company.
The KRYNO team:
-
- prepared the corporate documents;
- coordinated with local specialists;
- supported the registration procedures;
- helped define and properly formalise the company’s business activities.
As a result, the client received a company that became the owner of the developer accounts and a party to agreements with international platforms.
Corporate account opening and VAT registration
One of the key stages was opening a corporate account.
-
- prepared a document package for the compliance review;
- helped substantiate the company’s business model;
- supported communication during the account-opening process.
After successfully passing the checks, the client was able to receive international payments and make settlements through the corporate structure.
Since the company sold digital products in the European Union, the next stage was obtaining a VAT number.
The KRYNO team:
-
- prepared the documents for VAT registration;
- supported the application process;
- provided advice on ongoing tax compliance obligations.
Accounting and corporate support
After the company was launched, we organised its ongoing administration.
The support included:
-
- bookkeeping;
- preparation of financial statements;
- filing tax returns;
- advice on day-to-day operations;
- support on corporate matters.
This allowed the client to focus on product development and users instead of administrative processes.
The result of comprehensive support
The client received a registered company in Cyprus for operating an international GameDev business.
As a result of the project:
Today, the company has been operating successfully for more than a year and is used as the client’s primary structure for international activities.
Case cost
Full project support, including jurisdiction analysis, company registration in Cyprus, corporate account opening, VAT registration, and organisation of accounting support, amounted to approximately €4,000.
